Three Parts of the Spanish Culture

Hello everyone!

Welcome to our first blog post! I'd like to share with y'all a few things that are part of the daily life here in Spain.

1. Coffee                                                                                                                                                          Coffee is a big part of Spanish culture. They sit down and drink it at least 2 times a day and it's not just about drinking it but about the people you're drinking it with. You can sit at a cafe for two hours and have only ordered coffee but you've been chatting with friends and the time has flown by. There are cafes around every corner so that you don't have to go too far looking for a place to sit down to take a break and drink some coffee. It is a part of the Spanish culture that I really love!

2. Toast                                                               A wonderful part about mornings here is the smell of freshly baked bread coming from the bakeries. They'll get their fresh bread from there or go and sit at a cafe to have breakfast. A very popular thing to put on their toast is tomato. Sounds strange, I know, but it is actually delicious! You take a piece of toast, drizzle some olive oil on it, spread some pureed tomato on it, and top it off with some salt. You'd be surprised at how good it is and it's even better with garlic in the pureed tomato!

3. Siestas                                                                                                                                                       Siesta (nap) time is taken very serious here. People will close their shops to go home, have lunch, and take a nap. After a few hours people will go back to their shops and reopen for the evening. It's actually pretty great because it gives you a chance to slow down and take a break from your day whether you like to nap or not.

So, those are a few things that are a part of the daily life and are also 3 of my favorites. Spain has many more parts of its culture but I just wanted to give y'all a few for now!
